Even before Reuben Laurente's journey as a solo artist had taken off,  he had already recorded his very first solo gospel song at the age of 11, which was a radio production of  a Tagalog adapted version of the song "Born Again" by Celia Marcelo, mother of multi awarded pop composer Jungee Marcelo. This was aired over  702 DZAS of the Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC).  Years after, in 1987, he became a resident gospel recording artist for "Papuri!", the annual originak; gospel song festival of the FEBC (DZAS 702 AM/ 98.7 DZFE FM), which promotes the propagation of original gospel songs in Filipino.

He then released his very first gospel solo album in 1998 entitled "Reason for This" under Shekinah Records.  Music genius and album producer  Henry Garcia gave him his first break. The album won for Andre Castillo, his co-CompanY member, the best vocal arranger award at the 1999 Awit for arranging "Lullaby" a cappella, where Reuben sang all the parts.
From 1991 - 2005, Reuben became the tenor/baritone of the Philippines' premiere vocal group The CompanY.

In 2005, his musical aspirations could not be held back as Reuben released his second album "Langit" (Heaven), under Emmanuel Music.  N. Arnel De Pano did not only work as his producer, but he shared his gifts with dedication as a composer, arranger, recording engineer, and vocal coach.  "Langit" garnered a nomination for Best Inspirational Album of the Year in the 2006 Catholic Mass Media Awards.

PopVirtuosity is his very first pop album and Reuben's most ambitious album to date, as he co-produced this with D' Concorde Recording Corporation's Rudy Ong and Reck Cardinales.

The CompanY Years (1991-2005)

Reuben became a member of the Philippines' premiere vocal group, The CompanY, in 199!.  After they recorded their very first album " 'Yon Na! ", the group scored its first hit via "Everlasting Love" (by Rina Caniza, Luigi DeDios, & Moy Ortiz).   The owner of Ivory Records, Mr. Tony Ocampo, asked the producer Margot Gallardo to come up with a follow-up single, so Reuben recorded his first song with The CompanY, "Sana Nga Ikaw Na" (by Edith Gallardo & Babsie Molina), which eventually became the group's second hit. Reuben recorded a total of 14 albums with The CompanY, including Recycle Deluxe and Recycled Deluxe 2 (left box).
